SIBU: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem is confident that direct BN candidate for Dudong, Datuk Tiong Thai King will be among the winners of the over 70 seats for BN in the coming election.

“Among the 82 seats, 70 of them will go to BN and among them (the winning candidates) is Datuk Tiong Thai King, not (Independent candidate) Benny Lee,” said Adenan while visiting at the Philip Kayak Longhouse, which is the longest longhouse in Sibu with 91 doors.

“Though we have failed here before (in the last state election), we will win because after five years, DAP did not bring anything to the area but dust,” he added.

He said Tiong has been identified after looking into many other candidates.

Adenan was so confident that Tiong would win that he announced reserving RM400,000 to be given to the area for development projects through Tiong.

The chief minister said this would be his last election as he was “not power crazy”.

He also spoke about his near death experience three years ago, where he thought he would not make it.

“But God had mercy on me and I recovered. Whatever I have now is a bonus to me.

“Because I was on the brink of death, I now value life better. I want to use my remaining years to serve the people and then retire to spend time with my grandchildren.”

Meanwhile, longhouse chief Philip Kayak said his only request to Adenan was to rebuild the bridge linking the settlement to the main road.
