MARUDI: The poster war in this town is not as hot as in the longhouses in Mulu constituency.

Here in this town, which is under the Marudi constituency, posters of its BN candidate Datu Dr Penguang Manggil appear to be dominant though there are a few put up by his challengers Elia Bit of PKR and independent Louis Jalong.

However, in Mulu, youths there seem to be competing against each other on who can put up the most number of posters, buntings and banners, whether for BN or the opposition.

A random survey in several Iban Longhouses in Poyut/Lubok Nibong yesterday morning showed that the poster war seemed to be between PKR (Paul Baya) and BN (Datuk Gerawat Gala), especially at Rumah Jimbau Ena, Sg Gudang and Rumah Lansam Jalak, Dabai.

This, however, did not reflect the political leaning of the longhouses as it was hard to tell whether they were all for BN or the opposition.

But some longhouses did not even have a piece of the posters – only the election workers of the various contesting parties know why.
