Community College filling gap for new skills in community, says Nogeh

BAU: The recently held Kolej Komuniti Mas Gading Short Term Course will benefit enterprising people as a specific talent could be shaped into a business.

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro Based Industry II, Anthony Nogeh Gumbek, youths, senior citizens entrepreneurs – or just about anyone from the community – can thus become part of the economic driving force.

A total of 210 participants from 10 villages from Jagoi area such as Kampung Jagoi, Kampung Serasot, Kampung Serikin, Kampung Jagoi Duyoh and Kampung Bogag participated in the course to improve their skills in various fields.

Seven short term courses were offered in the one-day carnival, such as chain felt key manufacturing, crystal bangle, cup cake decoration and landscaping.

All the courses, which were free of charge, were coordinated by lecturers from Kolej Komuniti Mas Gading.

The carnival’s objective was to strengthen community ties with Kolej Komuniti Mas Gading and to offer locals the opportunity to turn skills into a business.

“With technological advancement progressing by the day, we need to stay updated to ensure that we are competing well in terms of skills and knowledge,” Nogeh said.

He said this in his text speech which was read by his representative Sumy Lidei at the Kolej Komuniti Mas Gading Short Term Course closing ceremony at Kampung Serasot Hall, here yesterday.

“Therefore, Kolej Komuniti is a great platform as it offers courses in various fields which is useful especially to those interested in doing business,” said Nogeh.

Also present was Kolej Komuniti Mas Gading director Dalila Abd Rahman.
