TAWAU: The district police, together with Felda Umas Kalabakan auxiliary police  and other supporting components arrested two Indonesians believed to be drug suppliers, and seized about 1,475.8g of Syabu at a factory at Sungai Sibuku, Brantian here on April 29.

District police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said six police personnel from the Tawau Narcotics Department and four auxiliary police  approached a 38-year-old man, but he threw a blue bag from his right hand and tried to run away when the police were introducing themselves.

However, the police succeeded to arrest him after a scuffle but they did not find any drugs in the bag.

The police, however, found  1,475.8g of drugs from a black backpack which was shouldered by him.

Fadil said in the black backpack, they found an instant coffee plastic pack with two red plastic packs, on which were written ‘China Tea’ containing syabu.

They also  seized  two instant noodle packs, one of which contained a red plastic pack on which was written ‘China Tea’ and filled with syabu.

“We also arrested a 49-year-old security guard of the respective factory,  believed to be the suspect’s friend at a nearby area. Both suspects tested negative for drugs,” he said.

According to him, the suspects would be investigated under Section 39B of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death sentence, if convicted.

They are being put under remand for seven days while the employer may also be investigated. Fadil also disclosed that the Tawau police would continue to become more aggressive in curbing drugs activities throughout the district.
