MIRI: Women are a powerful force in determining the future prospect of Sarawak in this election.

Women chief of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Dato Sri Doris Brodie said women constituted over 50 per cent of the 1,138,650 voters in Sarawak.

“Because of that and going by past records the turn-out of women voters on polling day would be high.

“Women therefore must vote for BN again to ensure victory so that Sarawak can continue to progress and prosper in the next five years and more,” he said at Uma Belor in Asap on Friday.

Doris, who is an ex-deputy president of the Senate, was leading PRS women exco on the campaign trail in Murum on Friday.

She urged the women voters to be sensible and practical when casting their votes on May 7.

“We (women) are a powerful force in this election. We are the ‘King Maker’ in this election if we are solid and united.

“Women must be rationale and wise to choose whom they want to be their number one leader in Sarawak.”

She said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, despite being in office for only two years, had proved to be a promising leader for all Sarawakians.

“He believes in unity and mutual respects amongst Sarawakians. He is all ears to all races from all walks of lives. He is vocal on Sarawak’s autonomy. He has come up with various transformation and regularization programmes and policies to meet the needs and requirements of Sarawakians, especially the rural community.

“Therefore, we must give Adenan the mandate to be the chief minister again. Five years of Adenan leadership will bring many more progress to Sarawak and Sarawakians.”

For this election, she said that Adenan had chosen his team and there were 82 of them.

“Our candidate in Murum, Chuk Pai, is one of them. Therefore, if we want Adenan to be our CM for the next five years, women in Sarawak including those in Murum must deliver our votes to all the BN candidates.

“In Murum, your votes must go to Chuk Pai. If you choose the opposition, you are rejecting development.”

She said opposition parties like DAP, PKR and PAS could not even compromise on seat allocation.

“If they win, they wouldn’t even be able to comprise on whom to lead their government thus cannot work together and this will only deprive the people of development and progress.”
