BAU: Infrastructure Development and Communications Minister Dato Sri Michael Manyin is optimistic that Barisan Nasional (BN) would win all eight Bidayuh-majority seats in the May 7 state election.

The constituencies are Opar, Tasik Biru, Tarat, Mambong, Kedup, Serembu, Bukit Semuja and Tebedu, where he will stand as a BN candidate.

“In the previous election, we only had six seats (Serembu and Bukit Semuja being new seats). It seems that the government wants us to have a bigger voice in the State Legislative Assembly.

“We must not miss this, in proving that we are totally cohesive and united. This is my appeal to all the Bidayuhs – to ensure that all the eight seats would be won by BN come May 7,” he said after the presentation of individual Native Customary Rights (NCR) land titles under Section 18 of the Land Code to 86 villagers of Kampung Suba Baru near here Saturday

Manyin stressed that the people would be voting for their future and as such, they should not waste it by voting for a candidate who could not bring about any benefit to the community, especially in terms of development.

“I appeal for the people to think wisely before casting your votes,” he said.

Manyin also saw the disputes among those in the opposition, such as DAP and PKR locking horns in six seats, only showed their incompetence.

“I believe that there would be no hope for these opposition parties to form a government in Sarawak.”

He also called on Tasik Biru constituents to support the direct BN candidate for the constituency, Dato Henry Harry Jinep, who was also present at the function together with former assemblyman Datuk Peter Nansian and Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) chief executive officer Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot.
