MIRI: DAP has done nothing for Pujut and Piasau over the last five years, so it is time for voters to toss them aside and support the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the coming state polls.

In making the call, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem reminded those attending a gathering run by Malaysian Welfare and Dakwah Islamiah Society (Pekida) Miri here on Sunday that Pujut and Piasau used to be BN strongholds. However, the DAP managed to win them in the 2011 state polls.

“We (BN) want to win Pujut and Piasau as well as get a bigger majority for Senadin in this state election,” he told the more than 4,000 guests. Getting back Pujut and Piasau would enable the resort city to progress, he assured.

On Pujut constituency, Adenan said the BN could win if there was strong Bumiputera support.

“Pujut is winnable for BN if the Malays in this constituency stay united and rally behind direct BN candidate Datuk Hii King Chiong. Although Chinese votes in this constituency will be split into two, we can win with Malay support. That is why the Malays must stay united.”

On a related matter, Adenan said the results of the May 7 election would determine the future of the state and country.

Turning to the Chinese community, he reiterated that TeamAdenan would not be perfect without Chinese elected representatives. He said he wanted Chinese representation in his team to ensure fair representation in the new state cabinet line-up.

Also present were PBB publicity chief Datuk Yusuf Sani Wahab, Miri Resident Antonio Kahti Galis , Miri Mayor Lawrence Lai, and Pekida Miri chairman Lias Julaihi.
