SARIKEI: Religious freedom in the state is real because all Sarawakians know how to respect each other’s privacy and practices.

For this, credit should be given to the state Barisan Nasional ( BN ) government for formulating a policy aimed at uniting people with diverse backgrounds, said BN candidate for Repok Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii at a goodwill gathering organized by a temple committee along Jalan Kim San here yesterday.

“Sarawakians irrespective of their religions and races have been able to live in harmony and prosperity due to a policy which is fair to all,” he pointed out.

Referring to the presence of former assistant minister in the chief minister’s office (promotion of technical education) Datu Len Talif Salleh who is also BN candidate for N.41 Kuala Rajang at the gathering, Huang said it was a clear testimony of our sense of respect for each other’s religion.

The people in the state should not allow outsiders to destroy the harmonious living condition in Sarawak and they must safeguard this status quo at all cost, Huang added.

In that respect, Huang appealed to residents in Repok to rally their support behind the BN under the able leadership of Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem in this 11th state election.

He also assured the residents that Adenan would deliver more development projects and other good news if BN were to be given a strong mandate to govern the state again.
