KUCHING: A total of 7,426 police officers and personnel will cast their early votes for the 11th State Election throughout Sarawak today, with the turnout expected to exceed 90 percent.

As of 11am, a total of 2,589 police personnel have cast their ballots, which is a turnout of 35 per cent.

There are also 968 police personnel registered as postal voters.

Federal Integrity and Standards Compliance Department director Dato Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said a total of 63 polling stations, comprising 66 voting streams, will be open from 8am to 5pm today to enable members of the force to cast their ballots.

Speaking to the press at state police headquarters here, where early voting has begun for the Tupong, Samariang and Satok state seats, he also said Sarawakian police personnel serving outside the state will be flown back in the coming days where they will carry out their responsibilities on May 7 as regular voters.
