Awang Tengah: State govt allocates RM14 million for water supply projects in Lambir

MIRI: The State Government has allocated RM14 million to implement rural water supply projects which would benefit about 760 households in Lambir state constituency under the 11th Malaysia Plan.

Minister of Public Utilities and Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said this when officiating at the rural water supply project for 85 households in Bukit Kisi here on Monday night.

The project benefitted Rumah Busang Broah, Rumah Jumat Aji, Rumah Gan Musang and Rumah Midul Sewi at Lot 86, in Peninjau.

The longhouses were connected to the reticulation system during the 10th Malaysia Plan and works were completed inn December last year.

According to Awang Tengah, the proposed 11MP projects included connecting villages in Kampung Usahajaya Tengah, Kampong Tujay Jaya 1&2, Rumah Rhee to SK Sg Buri, Kampung Damai, Sungai Rait and Kampong Jagus Bawah in Miri.

The others include longhouses in Bukit Song to Kampong Lusut and Kampung Siwak in Bakam.

All these projects are under the purview of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.

The minister urged voters in Lambir to vote the BN candidate Ripin Lamat in the May 7 state election in a show of support for Team Adenan led by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Adenan Satem.

Awang Tengah pointed out that the Chief Minister had been instrumental in accelerating rural development through the allocation of RM 1.5 billion funds under his Rural Transformation Programme.

Also present at the function were Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Public Utilities Haji Ubaidillah Latip, ADUN Sipitang in Sabah Datuk Ahmad Bujang and Ripin.
