BELADIN: The state government has endorsed the move to return Provisional Lease (PL) lands in Beladin to their respective landowners.

Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said the PL lands would be returned to the landowners regardless of whether the land has or has not been developed.

Addressing a leaders meet the people’s session at the Beting Maro operations centre in Kampung Beladin yesterday, Awang Tengah assured villagers that Native Customary Rights (NCR) lands would be absorbed under Ladang Rakyat (programme) with cooperation from the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA).

“With Ladang Rakyat, the people can take part in the agriculture industry to improve their income through dividends,” he said.

Tengah who won uncontested the Bukit Sari seat urged the villagers to continue supporting the incumbent and BN-PBB candidate for Beting Maro Razaili Gapor so he would be able to push for development projects through the BN government.

He also called upon the people not to be easily hoodwinked by the opposition who were merely making empty promises and highlighting issues that could cause disunity among the people.

The strength of the state, he said, is gauged on the level of harmony and unity of its people.

“All the opposition want is to claim credit which is usual for those who cannot walk the talk,” he added.

He cautioned that opposition parties from Semenanjung did not understand the political landscape in Sarawak and were trying to bring their unhealthy and aggressive political culture to the state.

“They (opposition) are also raising issues such as the Goods and Services Tax which is actually a federal matter,” he added.

Also speaking was Razaili who urged the villagers to vote for the BN to show their support for Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s Rural Transformation Programme and the various initiatives he had achieved to benefit Sarawakians.

Razaili who won Beting Maro in the 2011 state election further said it was also imperative for the voters to vote for a local candidate to lead and bring positive changes in the constituency.

After Beladin, Awang Tengah also attended a similar event at SK Sebemban, Saribas together with Saribas BN candidate Razi Sitam.

At the function, Awang Tengah highlighted the achievements of Razi by saying that since 2010, the latter had managed to bring in more than RM10million under the Rural Electrification Scheme (BELB).

Awang Tengah later attended a meet the people’s session for Lingga BN candidate Simoi Peri at Kampung Ulu, Sri Aman.

He revealed that the state government had approved an industrial estate in Lingga to spur economic activities in the area. He urged local entrepreneurs to take advantage of the estate by setting up small and medium industries to tap the local resources and markets.
