KUCHING: State police commissioner Datuk Seri Muhammad Sabtu Osman said that 23 voters suffered light injuries at SK Kuala Annau, Jepak Bintulu.

The voters were injured when the school’s wooden walkway suddenly gave way this morning.

From pictures provided by the Information Department, the school’s wooden supports beneath the walkway had apparently collapsed.

He stated that polling would still continue and as at 12pm, 111 voters have cast their votes. The polling centre has a total of 175 registered voters.

Meanwhile, a spokesman from the Tatau Education Office when contacted said they have prepared a preliminary report on the incident and had visited the school this morning.

He also thanked Health Office, police and EC personnel for their immediate action to help the victims.

“Tatau Education office will take further action to repair the damage through the Sarawak Education Department,” he said.
