Sarawak decides today

1

Today 1,138,650 voters will be heading to the ballots to cast their votes.

There are a total of 82 seats and 226 contesting candidates in the biggest state election in Sarawak history. The Election COmmission (EC) has expressed its confidence in a higher voters’ turnout this time, with a target of more than 80 per cent.

N50 MACHAN: Allan Siden Gramong (BN-PBB) is leading with 2,387 votes, followed by Independent candidate Semawi Paong (782) and PKR’s Chen Nguk Fa (720).

N49 NGEMAH: Independent candidate Dr Joseph Jawa is leading the polls as of 4pm.

So far, Dr Joseph has a slim lead with 1,733 votes ahead of PRS incumbent candidate Alexander Vincent at 1,665, while PKR Thomas Laja Besi has 232 votes and DAP Richard Lias has 172.

There are 8,899 registered voters in Ngemah.

N80 BATU DANAU: Incumbent direct BN candidate Paulus Palu Gumbang is leading in seven voting centres with 1,205 votes while independent candidate, Ali Adap polled 238 votes.

The seven polling centres were SK Kuala Mendalam, Ensurai, Long Napir, Lubuk Lasas, Buluh Baloi, SK Menuang and Tubai Ukong. Batu Danau has a total of 26 polling centres.

Batu Danau has 26 polling centres and 8,657 voters.

N78 MULU TURNOUT UPDATE: Data received from 22 polling centres out of 40 as of 2.30pm registers a voter turnout of 47.8 per cent, or 1,280 voters of 2,674 voters.

According to Assistant Returning officer for Mulu Belayong Pok the turnout is low.

The remaining 18 polling centres have yet to close.

Total registered voters in Mulu is 8,627.

In N71 Bekenu, direct BN candidate Rosey Yunus is currently leading in 10 polling stations.

PKR candidate Baru Bian is leading by nearly 100 votes in the early results of nine polling streams in the lowlands of Ba Kelalan constituency after the station was closed by midday. Baru led in Long Tuma , SK Peruvian, Beriwan and Pengalih in the traditional strongholds.

The unofficial tally is 737 for Willie Liau (BN-SPDP) against 834 for Baru.
