IPOH: Kuala Kangsar MP Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, who died in a helicopter crash in Sarawak on Thursday, was buried yesterday at the Perak Royal Mausoleum in Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar, 50km north of here.

His remains were laid to rest at 9.15am after prayers at the Ubudiah Mosque, attended by 1,500 people.

The Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, and the Raja Puan Besar of Perak, Raja Nor Mahani Raja Shahar Shah, and the Raja Di-Hilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain, also paid their last respects.

Also present were Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar, who was also chairman of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board, was one of six people who died in the crash of the Eurocopter AS350 helicopter on a flight from Betong to Kuching on Thursday.

The others killed were Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon and her husband Asmuni Abdullah, the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Dr Sundaran Annamalai, Noriah’s bodyguard Ahmad Sobri Harun and Filipino pilot Rudolf Rex Ragas.

An RMAF Hercules C130 aircraft flew the remains of Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar from Kuching to the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport here, arriving at 6.45m.

Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar’s wife Mastura Yazid and their four children — Wan Emir Astar, Wan Muhammad Amar, Wan Imar Izzat and Wan Emir Iskandar — accompanied the remains from Kuching.

The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, were at the airport. Also present was Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

After the aircraft landed, Sultan Nazrin Shah and Tuanku Zara boarded the plane to meet and console the family members, and a ‘doa’ (prayer) was performed led by Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria.

The remains were then taken to Kuala Kangsar. — Bernama
