KAPIT: A total of 137 landowners received land titles from Land Development Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing at Rumah Achan Linang in Sungai Amang recently.
Their Native Customary Rights (NCR) land spans 120 hectares.
At the ‘Delivery of Land Titles under Section 18 of the Land Code’ event, Masing recalled that Rumah Achan folk were among the pioneer batch who had agree to the government’s perimeter survey initiative in 2010.
“The granting of these land titles proves the government’s sincerity and commitment to help NCR land owners have proper ownership of their land,” he said.
“Before this, there were many land boundary disputes. Now, everything is settled.
“Additionally, with the land titles, the value of the increases.”
He added that he had earlier officiated at similar functions at Sungai Asap Resettlement Scheme and in Belaga, and all these proved that the opposition’s claim about the government taking away the people’s land was false.
Present were Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, political secretary to the chief minister, Wilson Nyabong Ijang, state administrative officer Cerisologo Sabun, assistant land officer Watson Awan and Councillor Jantai Maseng.
