KOTA KINABALU: Yayasan Sabah has spent nearly RM1 billion to support its various educational and welfare programmes as well as for the preparation of infrastructures and specialist services in various fields since its inception in 1966.

Speaking at the Yayasan Sabah 50th anniversary launch at Auditorium Tun Raffae near here yesterday, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman expressed his pride on the developments that have been achieved by Yayasan Sabah and all its citizens.

He then called on all the citizens of Yayasan Sabah to be prepared to face the challenges ahead.

“We must be brave to create a holistic transformation on various Yayasan Sabah social and commercial programmes and carry out changes that focus on creativity and new innovation capable of achieving the objectives and hopes of the people,” he said.

He said the fall and rise of an organisation was not dependent on one individual but required the support of all citizens who worked as a team.

“The success of an organisation lies in its human resources. We have to admit that the success and effectiveness of the human resource lie on their leader and on efficient management leadership,” he said.

He added that without such a leader, an organisation would lose its way.

“Hence, we are thankful to have leaders and efficient management. We have adopted leadership and management that had sincere, efficient and caring characteristics,” he said.

Musa, when speaking to the press later said Yayasan Sabah had helped many rural Sabahan youths to be successful.

He added that the foundation had provided various opportunities in the forms of education and scholarship to youths from the rural parts of Sabah.

“Many Sabahans who studied in Sabah and abroad have been given the scholarship and many of them are now holding careers as lawyers, engineers and doctors, due to the contribution from Yayasan Sabah,” he said.

He said Yayasan Sabah also carried out various Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to help the people of Sabah.
