KUCHING: Dalat assemblywoman Datuk Fatimah Abdullah says it is Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s prerogative to appoint members of his cabinet.

“Adenan is a wise man and the people must let him decide on her possible ministerial post.”

She said this when asked if she would be named in the same ministry that she previously held – the Ministry of Welfare, Women and Family Development.

“It is the chief minister’s prerogative. Let him make the decision. He is a wise man,” she told reporters after launching the SATT College 12th Convocation ceremony yesterday.

To another question, she said Barisan Nasional’s landslide victory in the just concluded state election reflected the people’s confidence in Adenan’s leadership.

She said they were confident with his leadership and that the future of Sarawak would be secure.

“It is the people’s confidence in Team Adenan that they voted for the BN. People in the rural areas, especially, want development and knowing that only BN can perform, they voted for BN.”

BN won 72 out of 82 seats in the May 7 election. In the 2011 state election BN could only win 54 out of 70 seats contested.

The BN managed to re-capture Batu Kawah, Repok, Meradong, Dudong and Piasau from Democratic Action Party (DAP), while other areas won by the opposition recorded reduced majority. The BN also won in all 11 new seats.
