PUTRAJAYA: The judiciary has launched its Yearbook 2015 and a compilation book of speeches, working paper, lectures and articles written by former chief justice Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad.

The two books – The Malaysian Judiciary Yearbook 2015 and ‘The Truth Shall Prevail’ – were launched by Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria at the Palace of Justice yesterday.

The yearbook, which is the judiciary’s sixth publication highlights the institution’s major activities in 2015, including its opening Legal Year, Judges Conferences, Appointment of Judges, Reports on disposal of cases as well as judicial inside of judges, retired judges and tribute to judges who had passed away.

Meanwhile, the book by Abdul Hamid consists of a collection of his speeches, working papers, lectures and articles written in English since 1973.

Abdul Hamid, who retired in 2008 said in his speech that the book launched yesterday,

was his third and that his fourth book entitled, ‘Buat Kerja’, containing a collection of his speeches, working papers, lectures and articles written in Bahasa Malaysia would be published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.

Meanwhile in her speech, Federal Court judge Tan Sri Zainun Ali, who is yearbook editor, said the editorial committee was convinced there was nothing quite like having real judges writing about real problems they faced in the humdrum of their daily existence.

“Because of the many challenges we face on or off the Bench, it is therapeutic, to say the least, to put down in words and share with colleagues and stakeholders our concerns – such that the collection of articles in this yearbook is the closest one can ever hope to get to a judge’s heart!,” she said.

Also present at the launch were Court of Appeal President Tan Sri Md Raus Sharif, Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin and Federal Court, Court of Appeal and High Court judges.
