BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: A historic home Anno 1925 at Jalan Piere Tendean is now used as a showroom for small and medium business under the auspices of the Banjarmasin Handicrafts Council (Dekranasda), AntaranewsKalsel reported.

“All SMEs groups can take turns to take advantage of this showroom later for a promotion of their products,” said Dekranasda Banjarmasin Chairwoman Dr Siti Wasilah at the launching of the showroom and Anno house cafe at Siring (river embankment) Jalan Piere Tendean, Sunday.

According to her, the old house on the Martapura riverbanks received a total renovation and has become a special place for handicraft products made by members of Dekranasda, Cooperative, and Business for Family Income Improvement (UP2K) -PKK in five sub-districts.

“Hundreds of SME products, we will try to market them here and on the third floor of Menara Pandang (viewing tower), the benefit is here as tourist attractions,” she said.

Wife of the Banjarmasin Mayor Ibnu Sina said it would continue to work so that SMEs can have a market, and can compete with industrial products. “Obviously there are conditions that SME products could enter this showroom, one of them packing,” she said.

According to her, the quality of SMEs’s products in this area continue to be improved, to be desirable and sought after in the market.

Mayor Ibnu Sina stated, this Dekranasda SME center showroom was very helpful for the city government plans to produce 2,500 new entrepreneurs in five years.

“We try to emerge SMEs in this area, because it will be very helpful for the growth of the community and the region,” he said.

The launching event at Siring Jalan Piere Tendean attended by the Provincial Secretary M Arsyadi with his wife, as well as Deputy Mayor Hermansyah.
