SIBU: Newly-minted Assistant Minister for Science Research and  Biotechnology Dr Annuar Rapaee is ready to do his best for Sarawak.

“I thank Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem for the trust given to me and for the appointment.

“I will do my very best for the state,” Dr Annuar who is Nangka assemblyman told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai meanwhile was appointed Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) and Assistant Minister for Arts and Culture.

“I would like to thank the CM for having the trust in me to carry out the job, which I feel is quite challenging,” said Sikie who was former assistant minister for local government, a post taken over by Dr Penguang Manggil.

Dr Annuar and Sikie were among the 18 assistant ministers taking their oath of office before Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, witnessed by Adenan at a ceremony which took place at 11am yesterday.

The others were Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Datuk Talib Zulpilip, Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, Liwan Lagang, Rosey Yunus, Datu Len

Talip Salleh, Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Dr Rahman Ismail, Sharifah Hasidah Syeed Aman Ghazali, Malcom Mussen Lamoh and Datu Dr Penguang Manggil.

Two others – Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz and Datuk Mong Dagang – were not reappointed.

Murum assemblyman Dato Gerawat Jala meanwhile took his oath of office as deputy speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.
