KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday advised a woman to lodge another report if she wished to withdraw her police report against her husband who was charged with making threats to her.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus advised 22-year-old Nur Ayum Nit to lodge another report to withdraw her earlier report after the prosecution informed the court that she wanted to withdraw her police report against Mohammad Shafiq Abdul Harun.

Nur Ayum, who was present in court, told the magistrate from the visitors’ gallery that she had gone to the Manggatal police station to lodge a report to withdraw her earlier police report against her husband but was asked by a police sergeant to get permission first.

The 23-year-old unrepresented accused was alleged to have threatened to harm his wife at an unnumbered house in Kampung Rampayan in Menggatal at 7pm on April 4.

The charge framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code is punishable with imprisonment of up to seven years and a fine, upon conviction.

The court then fixed June 17 this year for the trial to proceed. Prosecuting officer Inspector Isfandiar Dr Jasdi informed the court that all relevant documents for the trial have been served on the accused.

Mohammad, who is a medical assistant, was granted RM3,500 bail in two local sureties during his first arraignment.
