Enhancing security through community policing

MIRI: City police chief ACP Junaidi Bujang has lauded the partnership between the police force (PDRM) and the Miri community policing aimed at further enhancing security in the city.

Speaking at the launching of the Miri community policing at Lutong Baru yesterday, ACP Junaidi said the partnership could help reduce and curb crime in the city.

“It is very important to create awareness about community policing among the people…as we learn how the security agencies, the police and the community collaborate closely,” he said.

“We appreciate having community policing because it simplifies the security issues and we encourage members of the community to take part in this collaboration,” he stressed.

Also present was Assistant Minister for Land and Air Transportation and Safety Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Miri community policing president Dato Hu Kuok Wei and Malaysia community policing president Kuan Chee Heng.

At the function, Lee presented a cheque for RM5,000 to the Miri community policing.

Miri community policing was established in 2015 and currently has 500 members.
