KUCHING: Koperasi Koperkasa Sarawak Bhd (Koperkasa) announced a total payout dividend of 17 per cent: 8.5 per cent for share, 6.5 per cent for Monthly Recurring Deposit (MRD), and two per cent for personal savings.

Koperkasa state chairman Sajali @ Ismail Ojek also revealed that the financial year 2015 showed an increased revenue of RM10.5 million or 28.1 per cent compared with RM8 million in 2014.

“With the excellent performance, we (Koperkasa) will continue to strengthen ourselves and strive to achieve our key visions for the co-operative,” Sajali told a press conference after chairing their 63rd Annual Delegates Meeting here.

He stressed that Koperkasa Sarawak targets to rake in revenues exceeding RM12 million this year through various initiatives and projects, such as through their flagship hotel Place2Stay.

The hotel, which is in the midst of renovation, is expected to be completed in time for the Sukma Games this coming July.

He revealed another initiative to increase their revenue was to obtain land banks from the state government in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri to initiate housing projects for civil servants under ‘Taman Koperkasa’.

He urged civil servants and workers of Government Linked Companies (GLC) who had not registered to do so as the benefits of becoming Koperkasa members could be overwhelming.

“We have agreed to allocate RM1 million to our welfare fund as a means to assist our members during disasters or as a token of gratitude to their family members upon their demise,” Sajali said, adding that the welfare assistance would range from RM200 to RM2,000.

Under the same welfare fund, Koperkasa would also consider forking out on medical equipment and medical bills for its members.

Koperkasa Sarawak ranked number one in the state and is 25th out of the more than 12,000 cooperatives in Malaysia.

Koperkasa Sarawak set up its main office in Kuching with branches in Sri Aman, Sarikei, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang. Present at the press conference were Koperkasa Sarawak secretary Rumi Len, treasurer Abang Shith Abang Joss and exco members.
