KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem is committed in getting the state autonomy back from the federal government.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said there was a special committee handling this task.

“We believe that sooner or later the state will have a stronger voice, and we will be on par with other developed states,” he said at the PBB Tupong thanksgiving dinner at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Sunday.

Abang Johari, who is also Satok assemblyman and Minister of Housing and Urbanisation and Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, reiterated that the state government would not abandon its rural development agenda.

Works Minister and Petra Jaya MP Datuk Fadillah Yusuf, who was also present, said now was the time to deliver all the promises and pledges made in the run-up to the May 7 state election.

“We understand that the people are hoping for their requests to be fulfilled, and BN will keep its promises,” he said.

Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said he would do his best to complete what has been left behind by his predecessor Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman.

He attributed his win in the May 7 polls to Adenan’s popularity and the good work of Daud.

Over 2,000 PBB election workers attended the dinner.
