Man Returned Home After Getting Lost in the Jungle

Losing way back home, he wandered around the forest a night alone with hope only to light his lamp of life. It was the biggest ordeal he has ever faced, which alas ended on a happy note, brudirect.com reported.

The forty-year-old local man, who was reported missing while hiking in Kampong Tungku Katok on Sunday afternoon, managed to find his way out of the jungle yesterday at around 6am, after being stranded for more than 12 hours in the wilderness.

His wife alerted the authorities soon after receiving text message from her husband on Sunday saying that he has lost his way inside the jungle.

A report was made to the Fire and Rescue Department at around 10pm on Sunday, and immediately six personnel from the Beribi branch were dispatched to the scene.

The Public Relation Officer of the department said the search and rescue operation was conducted along with other agencies including the K9 Gurkha Reserve Unit and Police Rangers.

Village residents said the rescue operation started at 6pm on Sunday and was called off at 4am.

However at 6.16am, the man came out of the jungle at Nanas Sanggul area safely and without any injury.

The hiking trail is frequented by local trekkers.

The Paramedics Unit of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital checked his condition yesterday before he was declared fit to go home.
