KUALA LUMPUR: The National Anti Drug Agency(AADK) has discovered star-shaped sweets that allegedly cause hallucinations, as reported recently in the media, but does not contain any banned substances.

AADK said a sample of the sweets has been sent to the National Poison Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia, on May 10 for laboratory testing.

“The test results issued on May 17 did not detect any banned substances (drugs) in the sweets,” AADK stated.

According to them, there is a great possibility that the symptoms experienced by several students in a school in Penang such as dizziness, hallucination and cramps, were caused by the consumption of tainted sweets that were bought from outside the school, among other reasons.

On May 6, a local newspaper reported that several Year One to Year Three students suffered dizziness, hallucinations and cramps after allegedly eating the sweets. – Bernama
