SRI AMAN: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Bukit Begunan committee members are aggrieved to learn that their assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang was not re-appointed an assistant minister.

Tuai Rumah Selimen Kring said the voters of Bukit Begunan were not happy with the decision of PRS president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing, who was seen as failing to keep Mong as an assistant minister.

“For us, this is unfair considering (that) Mong created history with a majority of 4,695 votes in Bukit Begunan in the recent state election,” he said.

Mong was previously Assistant Minister of Agriculture (Research and Marketing). He was replaced by Batang Ai assembly man Malcom Mussen Lamoh.

Although the final decision was made by the chief minister, the president of each component party was responsible for listing their candidates for the post, he added.

Selimen opined that the people of Bukit Begunan should not have their hopes crushed as they have always supported Mong since he was with Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS).

“We ask that Masing reconsiders. We want an explanation about this matter.”
