SANDAKAN: The Sabah government has outranked the other state governments when it comes to providing online services.

Sukau assemblyman Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman said this was based on the Online Services Status Report released by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) on Jan 12, last year.

He said Sabah was ranked first in the online government services category as it had provided 91.39 per cent of its services online.

The online services here referred to the services provided by the government to the general public, businessmen and civil servants, he said.

“These are the services provided online without having to deal in person, and at anytime and anywhere,” he said during the launch of the Public Sector ICT Seminar for Sandakan Region, organised by the Sabah Computer Services Department here yesterday.

Saddi said the success of providing the best online services in the country was attributed to the ongoing efforts and campaigns in promoting the use of application systems that the state government offered such as One-stop Payment Services, eHoliday, and the Performance and Training profile.

He said there were many advantages in using online applications, including the public not having to deal with and wait for their turns at the counters.

“It also helps to reduce bureaucracy and increase compliance with the clients’ charter,” he added. — Bernama
