KENINGAU: The driver of a car was killed while a passenger was seriously injured when the vehicle collided with a Toyota car at Km 38, Keningau-Sook road on Tuesday evening.

Keningau police chief DSP Douglas Nyeging Taong said yesterday the driver of the Perodua Myvi, Jakilin Maraman, 51, died at the scene.

The passenger, Rustin Maraman, 50, believed to be the driver’s brother was seriously injured on the neck in the 5.30pm accident.

He was taken to the health clinic in Sook before being brought to Keningau Hospital for treatment. Both victims are from Kampung Malima in Sook.

“The driver of the other car, a 49-year-old man and his female passenger, suffered only minor injuries,” Douglas said.

Police investigation revealed that the Toyota was heading from Sook to Keningau and the Perodua Myvi was going towards Sook when they collided at a junction, he added.
