KUCHING: The ministry of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing is looking at community well-being that include their socio-economic status, sustainable environment, social and education development and basic needs like housing (safety), spirituality, social support system, social equity, culture and health.

Its minister, Datuk Fatimah Abdullah, said it was important to prioritise good health to ensure that the people were happy and had blessed families.

The ministry also wanted to make sure that the environment people live in was clean and sustainable, she said at the launch of a two-day Forum Komuniti Keluarga Bahagia 2016 (Happy Family Community Forum 2016) at Dewan Hikmah here yesterday.

Topics lined up for discussion are ‘Learned and Knowledgeable Family’, ‘Family Harmony’, ‘Healthy and Happy Family’, ‘Family Affection’ and ‘Family Moral’.

The forum is divided into four sessions.

The highlight of the forum is a talk by motivational speaker Ustaz Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew (Ebit Lew), who would talk on ‘Family Affection’.

The event is organised by National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) and Women and Family Department.

It was attended by various NGOs leaders, community leaders and individuals.

LPPKN director Rohani Ahmad, a representative of permanent secretary to the Ministry of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing Dr Siti Zaleha Ridhuan, director of Women and Family Department Sarawak Noriah Ahmad and Hikmah chief executive officer Alwi Morshidi were present at the function.
