SIBU: An ongoing property roadshow at Sibu Airport delighted three visitors from China and locals heading back for the Gawai Dayak celebration.

The Chinese trio who spent 10 days visiting various towns in Sarawak were on their homeward bound journey when they chanced upon the Iban lasses from SibuJaya in traditional costumes and sought to have their photographs taken.

Chancing upon the Iban lasses in traditional costume was somewhat like a farewell gift for them.

Other visitors thronging the Sibu Airport also reported that the sight of ladies in traditional Iban costumes to send off or welcome visitors at the departure and arrival halls was very pleasing.

Many of them have been away from home for quite some time and only return during Gawai Dayak festival.

Eunice Tadom, who is with Distrepark Sdn Bhd — the developer of SibuJaya — said with Gawai Dayak so near, they decided to add the festive mood by decking out in traditional gear.

“It’s an attractive and creative way to promote our SibuJaya township and also to have some festive fun,” she said.

“People from different races and towns, and especially those from Peninsular Malaysia have been asking to have their photos taken with us and we’re only too happy to oblige,” added the twenty-something sales executive.

Eunice who lives and works in SibuJaya said the township has grown by leaps and bounds since she first moved there from Durin with her parents.

“I never thought I’ll work in SibuJaya but I am glad that I do. It’s such a young and vibrant township,” she enthused.

She invited all who were at the airport to pick up their family members or friends to drop by at the SibuJaya booth and look at the offers available.

“With 90 per cent financing, you only need RM1,800 to own a home at our Coral Avenue,” she said.
