KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has called on the Dayak community to set aside differences and work closely together in order to move forward in achieving further progress.

The Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture and Rural Economy said the coming Gawai celebration meant a great deal to the Dayaks across the state, particularly in view of the tremendous success of BN in the 11th state election.

“Gawai 2016 is significant because few weeks ago, state BN won the election in a landslide under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem. And we have been directed to continue working hard for the community. To the people, we appreciate their support for BN which reflects their confidence in BN government to bring the development of Sarawak to greater heights,” he said in his Hari Gawai message to Sarawakians when met at Bangunan Baitul Makmur in Petra Jaya yesterday.

Uggah pledged that Team Adenan would put in greater efforts to serve the various communities. In the meantime, he hoped the community would collaborate with the state BN government to see further development and progress.

“During this festive celebration, let us put aside our differences and resolve issues that hinder us from moving forward. I hope we will make good use of this time to move forward to a new era.”

He said the government would expect collaboration from all quarters in order to carry out development projects planned for Sarawak. He believed that no one community in the state would be left out of mainstream development.

“Let us all work closely with one another to implement projects for the benefit of all, so that together we enjoy progress. This government is inclusive and will look after all. Selamat Hari Gawai, Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai, Lantang Senang Kaya Raja.”
