KUCHING: Sri Aman/Betong division representative Sharizan Sarbini is the winner of this year’s state-level 1Malaysia Public Speaking Competition.

He will be representing Sarawak in the national level competition to be held in Kedah this coming July.

In second and third places are Khalid Husseine Tuah representing Kuching/Samarahan/Serian division and Martin Dinil (Miri/Bintulu division).

Consolation prizes went to Muhamad Seburizal Said representing Limbang division, Azizan Yussof (Kapit division), Arman Sahari (Sibu/Mukah division) and Amin Seer (Sarikei division).

Themed ‘Sehati Sejiwa’ with the objective of strengthening usage of the national language and increasing knowledge through public speaking, this year marks the sixth time the competition is held.

Among the topics delivered by participants were ‘Kreativiti dan Inovasi Pemangkin Kemajuan Negara’, ‘Memperkasa Modah Insan ke Arah Negara Maju’, Kemakmuran dan Kesejahteraan Rakyat Agenda Utama Negara’ and ‘Kemerdekaan Membina Ketamadunan Bangsa’.

Also present during the officiation ceremony at Pustaka Negeri Auditorium on May 26 was Assistant Minister for Early Childhood Education and Family Development Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Gahazali, state information department director Abang Sardon Abang Hashim and Japri Bujang Masli of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak.
