KUCHING: Those seeking to indulge in culinary delights that comprise local and international specialties, including Arabian and Japanese delicacies throughout the fasting month can head to the Waterfront Cafe at Hilton Kuching Hotel here.

The annual ‘Iftar Dinner Buffet’ offers diners to a rich variety of delicious hot dishes such as the ever-popular Arabian Whole Lamb Roast, the Penang Char Kueh Tiaw and Claypot Fish Curry at the live cooking stations, as well as other delectable specialties such as Oven-baked Chicken ‘Akbari’, ‘Ayam Masak Tempoyak Berkunyit’ (Chicken in Fermented Durian and Turmeric Gravy), Lamb Stew With Chickpeas and Spinach, and Mutton ‘Varuval’.

There are also dates and refreshing syrups on standby for guests to break their fast right after the muezzin’s call for Maghrib prayer.

This array of mouth-watering spread also includes an assortment of fresh and pre-mixed salads, tasty appetisers and wholesome soups. Diners will be spoilt for choice at the salad bar that serves, among other items, Thai Young Papaya Salad, Spicy Thai Beef Salad, Sarawak Rojak and Gado Gado.

There are also Japanese Sushi corner, Dim Sum stall, a pasta station and a ‘Tandoor’ (Indian clay oven) station, while the local section hosts a lineup of favourites like Rojak Sotong Kangkong, Roti Jala and Mini Murtabak.

Chefs will also attend the Hot Plate Station at the Waterfront Terrace, preparing for diners a variety of fried and grilled items served on banana leaves with a selection of ‘sambals’.

The Desserts Section has all the items that one needs to finish off a lovely ‘iftar’ (break-of-fast), with offerings such as Ais Kacang, Bubur Cha Cha and Bubur Pulut Hitam, as well as an assortment of cakes and pastries, fresh fruits and ice-cream.

The Hilton Kuching’s culinary team changes the buffet menu on daily basis.

Pricing per person is RM110, with 50 per cent discount per child aged between six and 12. Children below six years old can enjoy the buffet for free.

Additionally, Hilton Kuching is having an early bird’s offer with guests having booked and prepaid their reservations by June 6 would earn a 20 per cent discount on dining anytime throughout Ramadan month.

It also offers attractive packages priced from RM79 per person for private group dining (minimum 35 people) at its function room or for outside catering services.

Those preferring to dine at home but would like some fancy dishes to complement their home-cooked meals can order takeaways for items such as buttered prawns and roast leg of lamb at Caffe Cino.

All prices are inclusive of 10 per cent service charge and six per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST).
