The safety box was damaged by the thief who took about RM1,000 cash from it.
MIRI: A Chinese temple in Saberkas here lost almost RM1,000 cash to a thief during a break-in at about 12am yesterday.
The caretaker of the temple only realised the incident at about 3.30am when he wanted to perform his morning prayers.
He was shocked to find the prayer room in a mess and the safety box broken.
A check on the premises’ CCTV footage revealed a man wearing a helmet breaking into the temple into the main entrance at about 12am.
A police report had been lodged.
