KUALA TERENGGANU: Nordin Putit of Sarawak Police Contingent and Suriani Abdul Jalil of Penang Police Contingent emerged winners of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Al-Quran Recital competition.

Nordin collected 94 points while Suriani picked up 76.5 points to win the men’s and women’s categories in the event held at Wisma Darul Iman here recently.

They won RM2,000 cash, trophy, certificate of participation and hamper.

The prizes were presented by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim.

Noor Rashid said they plan to hold the Al Quran recital competition in the other states.

“This is the first time the Al Quran recital competition is held in Terengganu.”

Previously, the annual event was held at Bukit Aman. — Bernama
