Mojigoh appointed patron of Sandakan Kadazan Culture, Welfare Association

SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Kadazan Culture and Welfare Association (PKKKS) is starting to be active after a few years without any major activities and programmes.

After the new PKKKS president, Fidelis Edwin Bajau was elected in March this year, he is determined to lead the association to more be more dominant and active.

“Before this we have association members who wonder what has happened to the association. Now it is time to ‘wake up’. I am leading the association to become more dominant and active so that the Kadazandusun people here will not be neglected from cultural activities in Sandakan,” he said when launching the PKKKS Kaamatan Festival 2016 at Sandakan Sports Complex hall here, last Friday night.

The Kaamatan Festival was held this year following one held in 2009. Fidelis said that the had also increased in popularity with over over 400 members last year to 758 members this year .

He also hoped the number of members would increase next year.

The colourful event was graced by Karamunting assemblyman Charles O Pang.

Putatan Member of Parliament Datuk Marcus Mojigoh was also present.

In his speech, Fidelis announced that Marcus was appointed as the patron of PKKKS.

The celebration lined up several programmes including traditional food cooking competition, traditional drink making competition, sugandoi (singing competition) and Unduk Ngadau (beauty peagent) competition.
