KUCHING: Volunteer social worker Lim Chee Haw would like to remind the public that he has no Facebook or any other Internet social media account.

He said this is because he is illiterate when it comes to sophisticated communications device and technology and he only knows how to use the basic mobile phone, apart from land line telephones.

“How could I have Internet social media accounts when I don’t even know how to switch on the computer or use smartphones? Whatever social media accounts seen by the public on the Internet which claim to be mine or seem to be representing me really have nothing to do with me,” he added.

He claimed that there might be some people out there who were either out to defame him (via the Internet) or use his name for their personal interest.

Hence, he would like to make it clear that he can only be contacted directly via his mobile phone or house phone.

Apart from that, Lim disclosed that there were cases where individuals with ill intentions went all out to cheat other people by claiming that they were representing him to seek donations for the poor people.

“I never go around, let alone ask people to go around on my behalf and ask for donations to the poor. The things that I gave to poor families are given to me by good Samaritans who wished to remain anonymous and I donated them to the poor on their behalf and I never go around asking people to donate to the poor,” he said.

Lim was at Landeh and Stampin recently to hand over donations by anonymous good Samaritans.

During his visits to the two places, he gave away food and other basic necessities to two Christian homes, namely Home of Peace (in Landeh) and Home of Santa Clara (in BDC, Stampin).

Jerome Lim who heads the Home of Peace received the donation on the home’s behalf.

Lim revealed that the donors of the items only wished to be known as Miss Goh and family, Kenyalang Park good Samaritan(s), Kuching Sentral Bus Terminal Mr Chai and friends, Kenyalang Park Mr Ng and family, Sekama Madam Ngui and family and Kampung Stutong Mr Lee and family.

On another matter, Lim said he can also assist non-Muslim poor families in acquiring coffins during their times of bereavement.

The coffins were purchased through donations from good Samaritans.
