KOTA KINABALU: More than 50 per cent of the tickets for Super Star Sabah Concert 2016, featuring renowned Hong Kong artiste G.E.M., have been snapped up with seven weeks to go.

Airworld Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd is also offering three-night accommodation packages at a hotel in 1Borneo Hypermall and city centre at RM210 and RM240 nett per person, inclusive of airport transfer.

Brandon Tang, executive director of Gig Studio Entertainment Sdn Bhd which organizes the event, said the response for the concert on July 23 was good as more than half of the tickets had been sold to date.

The event, to be held at the Chancellor Hall in Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) from 8pm, is presented by 999 Bar and co-organized by Dream Factory Entertainment, Airworld Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd and Sabah Labuan Motion Picture Traders and Entertainment Association (Slamptea).

Besides G.E.M, Taiwanese artistes AJ, Lollipop F, Genie, Lara, Esther and Sabahan singer JY will be performing at the concert.

Tang said G Acoustic had come on board to sponsor the audio system for the event, which enabled the organizer to save on expenditure and to donate more for Tolumis Care Centre in Tuaran and sponsor five UMS students to complete their three-year tertiary studies.

He said Life Water Industries Sdn Bhd, producer of Sasa and K2 drinking water, had also rendered its support for the event.

Life Water Industries Sdn Bhd has acquired a large number of the concert tickets and will be promoting the event on its vehicles as well as Sasa and K2 bottles.

Meanwhile, Nutri U is donating part of the proceeds from the sale of Nutri U – Multi Grains to the concert’s welfare purposes.

Nutri U-Multi Grains is a nutrition meal replacement, made from a combination of advance formula from the United States, Germany, France, Australia and South Korea; using more than 30 carefully selected varieties of high quality beans, cereal, and a combination of Emerald green tea of Japan, West Indian cherry, soy protein isolate, phospholipids and tricalcium phosphate in its preparation.

Airworld Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Seri Winston Liaw said outstation concert goers could consider opting for the accommodation packages offered by his company.

“We hope people from outstation, such as from Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Miri, Bintulu, Kuching and Sibu will make their reservations as soon as possible as July is the peak season for the tourism industry,” he said.

999 Bar Sdn Bhd proprietor Liew Pin Cheong hoped that the concert that featured international artistes could boost the local tourism industry and economy.

He said the concert was worth it compared to spending thousands of ringgit in airfare, transportation and accommodation for Sabahans to fly to Kuala Lumpur or Genting Highlands to watch a show.

Slamptea president Peter Chow said there had been no major show or superstar concert in Sabah due to the lack of financial resources and manpower, which was why the association supported Liew’s passion in spurring the tourism and entertainment industries through the Super Star Sabah Concert 2016.

He said the event could also promote Sabah to people from other countries, who might not even know where the State is located.

Besides, Chow said he had heard about many negative perception about Sabah during his trip overseas.

“I hope we can use this opportunity to improve and change the perception of people in other countries towards Sabah,” he said.

The concert tickets range from Silver Zone (RM288), Gold Zone (RM388), Platinum Zone (RM588), VIP Zone (RM688) and Rock Zone (RM788).
