SUNGAI BESAR: Pakatan Harapan’s provocative campaign with elements of racism in Sekinchan shows they are trying to arouse Chinese sentiments and discourage the community from voting for Barisan Nasional (BN).

Felda chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad said such actions clearly demonstrate political immaturity and showcased a dirty political game which is dangerous.

“DAP always uses sentiment in their political struggle. If not controlled, it will present a negative image of the country and I believe the Prime Minister himself will not allow this to happen because we have the responsibility to always maintain peace,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after attending a sahabat Felda programme in the operations room of the Sungai Leman district polling centre in Kampung Darat Parit 8, here, late last night.

A news portal reported Selangor DAP chairman Tony Pua yesterday had admitted that his party was responsible for putting up the inflammatory campaign billboards in Sekinchan town. The billboards were later taken down by Election Commission staff.

Mohd Isa, in his speech called on voters in Sungai Besar to choose the BN candidate, Budiman Mohd Zohdi, who has credibility and good leadership prowess and is not affected by the opposition’s allegations and slanders against the government to garner votes in the parliamentary election.

“The opposition is trying to split the votes by raising various issues with the hope of creating hatred against the government,” he said.

In the Sungai Besar by-election, Budiman will be facing PAS candidate Meru assemblyman Dr Abdul Rani Osman and Parti Amanah Negara’s Azhar Abdul Shukur. — Bernama
