KUCHING: Candidates/agents in the recent Sarawak state election are required to submit their campaign spending returns by June 30 this year.

Sarawak Election Commission director Datuk Takun Sunggah noted in this regard that the full results of the 11th Sarawak State Election had already been published in the Federal Government Gazette (R.U [B] 267), dated May 30.

“Section 23(1) of the Election Offences Act 1954 states that very candidate or agent must submit an authentic statement, known as an ‘election spending return’ within 31 days after the results of an election had been published in the gazette,” he said.

He said Form B must be signed by the candidate/agent, with the original receipts attached; while Form C, by the candidate and Form D, by the election agent. – Bernama
