Ministry’s investigation into death of Zahid’s son-in-law completed — Dr Subramaniam

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has concluded investigations related to the death of Deputy Prime Minister’s son-in-law Datuk Syed Alman Zain Syed Alwi.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam said the ministry’s investigations has been completed but awaiting the investigation report from the police which is expected to be completed by next week.

“Once both parties have completed the respective reports, the ministry will decide on the next course of action under the Health Ministry’s jurisdiction and police will decide any action based on the criminal procedure code,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Dr Subramaniam was speaking to reporters after opening a Talent Search programme organised by the Malaysian Indian Football Association (MIFA) at the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil, here yesterday.

Syed Alman Zain, 44, the son-in-law of Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is married to his eldest daughter Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid passed away on June 1 at the University Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) after seeking treatment at a private dental clinic here.

Also present at the programme were Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M Saravanan and former National footballer Datuk Santokh Singh. — Bernama
