MIRI: Youth members of Federation of Miri Divisions Chinese Associations have been told to take a more proactive role in organising and participating in activities related to development.

Federation president Hii Teck Yun regarded the youth section as ‘an important part of the federation’, in that it comprised members from all existing Chinese associations.

“The section represents the youths—one that would lead them to become leaders. Therefore, those in that section must set a good example to the younger ones by taking on key roles in activities that are of interest to members,” he said in his opening remarks at the ‘Chinese Youth Oscar Night’ on Saturday.

Hii also said in order to become better leaders, the youths of today must work with current leaders as this could help towards the implementation of various development projects slated for the benefit of not only members, but also the society in general.

The Chinese Youth Oscar Night was attended by more than 70 youths members representing many Chinese.

The Federation of Miri Divisions Chinese Associations Youth Section chief Brian Ang was also the event organising chairman.
