LAHAD DATU: The Ramadan bazaar in Bandar Sri Perdana is wihtout doubt one of the most popular bazaars in this district because of its wide array of delectable offerings for visitors to choose from.

Some of the food items are in fact unique and these include coloured burgers, dubbed Burger Celup, which is prepared by a 21-year-old vendor, Mohd Saiful Sharijan.

Saiful’s burgers come in three colours — blue, red and green – and have attracted much interest as they are the first coloured burgers in this district.

“I came up with this idea to look for something different as there are a lot of burger traders in this district. I get this recipe while studying in Johor and took the chance to offer them here because it is something new,” he said.

According to Saiful, the bread for the burgers is ordered from a bread factory in Tabanak with the special request to add some colours to make it unique and special.

The coloured bread, he said, is not the only special thing about his burgers, the meats are also specially prepared by himself to ensure it is more delicious.

“It is important to have delicious meat to combine with the coloured breads, otherwise the speciality of my burger would only be the colours. I want the people to recognize my burgers for their unique colours and, more importantly, the delicious flavours,” he said.

Saiful said his burgers are selling at RM6.50 for special and RM5.50 for regular with black peppers, and he is able to sell around 50 pieces a day.

He said this was his first attempt at selling in a bazaar and had not expected the encouraging response from the public, despite some challenges in terms of financial resources.

Saiful is determined to be different and to produce more products in the future.
