KUALA LUMPUR: A self-employed man was fined RM2,000, in default to months’ jail, by a magistrates’ court here, for trespassing into an office building in Wangsa Maju yesterday.

Magistrate Husna Dzulkifly handed the sentence to Muhammad Fuad Yuszahari, 27, after he pleaded guilty to criminal trespassing into Block B 25-1 Plaza Wangsa Maju Section 10, Wangsa Maju, here at around 6.50am on June 16.

He was charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of six months or a fine of up to RM3,500, or both, upon conviction.

Earlier in mitigation, Muhammad Fuad, who was unrepresented, appealed for a light sentence.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin however, urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence, to serve as a lesson not only to the accused but also to others. — Bernama
