6,500 food packets for those working during Hari Raya

KUCHING: The services of government enforcement and security agency personnel working during the Hari Raya celebration will not be forgotten as 6,500 food packets will be distributed to them.

According to Minister of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing Datuk Fatimah Abdullah, a total of RM50,000 had been allocated by the state government for the purpose.

“These packets will be distributed to those working during Hari Raya celebration. We honour them because they are willing to leave their families at home to guard the country,”  Fatimah told reporters at the ‘Majlis Sumbangsih Kuih Raya’ at the Women and Family Department headquarters, here yesterday.

Fatimah said this year the distribution of food packets would be a bit different from past years as the packets would be distributed to the recipients at their respective offices or work places.

She said seven agencies would receive the food packets this year.

“The distribution will start on June 20 at the Bukavu Camp in Mile 8, followed by the Police and Immigration departments at Simpang Tiga on June 22, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency complex on June 23, Customs Complex on June 24, Fire and Rescue Department of Petra Jaya on June 24 and Puncak Borneo Prison on June 27,” she added.

The food packets contain Hati Parek, Sago, Kuih Siput, Nestum biscuit, Oat Biscuit, Serunding and Rock Biscuit.

The programme is jointly organised by the Women and Family Department, PBB Women Wing, Single Mothers Association Sarawak, Persatuan Pengusaha Kek Lapis Sarawak, Helwa HIKMAH, Carnation Club, Dewan Usahawan Wanita Sarawak and Perkim of Dalat.

Assistant Minister for Early Childhood Education and Family Development Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and Women and Family Department director Noriah Ahmad were also present.
