SARIKEI: A motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident at the traffic lights located at the junction of Jalan Masjid Lama and Jalan Abdul Razak here yesterday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened around 9.30am when a car travelling on Jalan Masjid Lama was intercepted by a speeding motorcycle travelling from the opposite direction when it diverted into Jalan Abdul Razak.
It was not certain either the motorcyclist or the motorist had beaten the red light.
Traffic policemen conducted an investigation at the scene and detained both the car and the motorcycle for further probe. The injured motorcyclist was taken to Sarikei Hospital by ambulance.
