PUTRAJAYA: The outcome of special tripartite talks at the officials’ level on MH370 held here for two days will be brought to the ministerial level between the three parties for a decision to be made, said Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi.

He said the ministerial talks on the Malaysia Airlines aircraft are expected to be held in Malaysia next month.

“The search is now more than 90 per cent and is expected to end this month.

However, it may be extended because the sea is a little choppy.

“Australia has informed that they need a bit more time to complete the search area of 120,000 square kilometres,” he told reporters after the break-of-fast with the media here today.

A special tripartite meeting on MH370 involving officials from Australia, China and Malaysia held at the Transport Ministry here will end tomorrow.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the direction of future operations to search for MH370 and to study in detail the important issues including the discovery of aircraft fragments recently.

Malaysia is represented by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) director-general Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), which led the search had initially expected to complete it in a 120,000-sq kilometre area by the end of this month.

MH370 which was carrying 239 passengers and crew disappeared from the radar screen while en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014.

The flight of ill fated aircraft was reported to have ended in the southern Indian Ocean. — BERNAMA
