KAPIT: Seventeen items are listed as controlled items for Hari Raya celebration from June 16 to July 6.

According to officer-in-charge of the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operative and Consumerism here, Jubin Janggong, their enforcement officers would go all out to check traders to ensure they abide by the price list and sufficient supply of essential goods for the celebration.

“Just like any other major festive celebrations in the country namely Chinese New Year, Gawai and Christmas, the ministry is serious in ensuring that fair prices for all essential goods are made available to the celebrants. The number of controlled items varies.

During the recent Gawai the number was 14.

“During our routine check on the traders, we are happy to note that most of the listed items are sold below the ceiling prices. Traders are also putting up the proper price tags on their merchandise.

“So far we don’t find any traders hiking prices to take advantage of the festival,” he said, adding those who wish to make a complaint to call them at 086-799678, fax 084-797664 or go to their website www.kpdnkk.gov.my.
