KUCHING: MCA has condemn the cold-blooded murder of Native Customary Rights (NCR) activist and PKR member Bill Kayong and urged police to bring the perpetrator(s) to justice.

MCA Religious Harmony Bureau chairman Dato Sri Ti Lian Ker, in a statement yesterday, said Bill’s death was nothing short of tragic.

“A young man has been robbed of his life, and his family of a loved one,” he said.

“I condemn this cold-blooded murder in the strongest possible terms. I urge the police to leave no stones unturned in finding the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.”

Police must also stop the recent trend of ‘targeted killings’ of individuals or officials who were seen to be fighting crime or corruption.

“Our nation must not tolerate or allow the killers or people behind the killings to escape justice. There should be zero tolerance or accommodation of such crimes,” he said.

“Justice must be done and be seen to be done. Otherwise, the killers or killings will be more rampant and courageous.”

Political differences aside, Li urged all to stand united in ensuring that those who champion the cause of the people must not fall victim to such insidious elements.

“In fact, they should or ought to be guarded or protected. We must not allow these villainous elements to intimidate activists, for a nation gripped with fear would never advance.”
